Established in 1948 by Robert Wilson, The University of Leicester Boat Club is a friendly, student-led rowing club open to all experience levels. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned rower, we offer the chance to train regularly, compete at lots of events through the year, and be part of a close, supportive team.

From all of UOLBC we want to wish all a-level students good luck for your results!

Whatever the outcome, be proud of the determination and resilience you’ve shown. If you’re joining Leicester this September, we’d love to welcome you to the crew — no rowing experience needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to give it a go!

We’ve had a great weekend of racing in Nottingham again for BUCS regatta. It’s been great to see our hard work paying off, despite some rough conditions on the water. Well done to all of our rowers!

Next Wednesday and Thursday is our annual 24 hour Ergathon! This year we are raising money for Cancer Research UK and the club. Any donations and support is greatly appreciated. We’ll be at the centenary square if you want to come along and cheer us on❤️❤️

Hi, I’m Kate, a second year and proud member of ULBC! Although I only started rowing this time last year, it has become a huge part of my life and has definitely made my university experience. In just one year I’ve gained so many friends, had some great experiences and improved my physical and mental fitness, strength and health. ULBC is a welcoming environment full of friendly faces and great support - whether you’ve rowed for years or never even seen a rowing boat before, there’s a place for you to improve and have fun! Throughout a very busy first year as a medical student, rowing has kept me sane, giving me something to enjoy outside of uni work. Life definitely gets busy at times, but you can do as much or as little as you like and still benefit from the exercise and time spent outside with others. Give it a try!

Our novices took to the cox seat today as they learnt to manoeuvre a bow loader for the first time. Alongside some throw line practice!

We had a great couple days of racing at BUCS this weekend with our members hard work paying off 💪

In particular we are really proud of our novice squad who made D finals in the 2x and the 4+.

We can’t wait for the rest of the regatta season to come!
