Peterborough Head of the Nene 2024
Our senior members took to the water at Peterborough Head of the Nene, for a full day pot hunting as part of Leicester Rowing Club. In a day that seemed sunny and warm to anyone on the bank, we were faced with what proved to be very difficult conditons, with fierce head winds, and a strong upstream current, our athletes were pushed to their limits.
Peterborough also provided our longest race course so far this season, with the largest boats racing over 5km, while smaller boats had to face a still difficult 2.6km. Despite the difficulties faced, such as a boat being written off during a collision in transit to the race (RIP Simon Whittaker 4+), we saw an incredible performance from our athletes across the day. A huge thank you is due to Peterborough RC for coming to the rescue and loaning us a boat and blades to replace our damaged one. We are also extremely grateful to DMURC for helping us with trailering, and LRC members for making the day run smoothly and supporting our training for this event!
