University of Leicester Boat Club 69th Christmas Ball
The 25th of November saw the University of Leicester Boat Club's current and past members don their glad rags for a night of celebration. The Mercure Grand Hotel hosted our 69th Annual Christmas Ball, a fantastic event that saw members from all of our squads drink, dine, and dance together, with plenty of ULBC blazers on display. Awards were handed out to rowers who had shown the most commitment to their teammates, as well as those who had improved the most so far this season. The club also recognised the work of alumni Alex Davis, who's work on the club committee and since graduation has been instrumental in the club's move to the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham.
ULBC managed to raise over £400 for Leicestershire hospice charity, LOROS. This came through a fantastic raffle and a silent auction - a huge thank you must go out to two of GB's top rowers Vicky Thornley and Matt Rossiter, who donated signed kit to help us raise money for LOROS!
Thanks must go to XYZ photography, who provided excellent high-quality photos of the whole evening, as well as Maria Hallmark and Rachel Gallyot who crafted the beautiful centre pieces for our tables. Finally, we must congratulate our Social Secretaries Conall Freeman and Henry Gallyot our social secretaries, for organising such an unforgettable event. We're looking forward to next year!
