Nottingham Autumn Head 2017
After nearly a ten year absence from the Annual four kilometre race on the River Trent, the University of Leicester Boat Club made the short journey from their new bay on the lake at the National Watersports Centre to take part in Nottingham Autumn Head. Sunday saw the club competing in the men's and women's coxed four event's against regional opposition. The first crew competing comprised of five of last year's senior men's squad: Ryan Asher (s), Guyon Bedward, Keir Vogl and Harrison Smalley (b), with Becky Goodman in the cox seat. Following a shaky row up, the crew pulled it together during their race to came away as the fastest coxed four of the day. The second crew competing also consisted of several members of last year's senior squad, with Mary Bryant Jeans (s), Ellie Parker, Clodagh Gallagher and Alice Bloomer (b), with Corinne McWilliams coxing. Despite an excellent standard of local university competition, the women's crew put in a great performance to come away with third in their division. Both results set a fantastic precedent for the rest of the season and we look forward to seeing what our senior squads can achieve this year.
